New Album Update
Greetings, Storytellers!
I thought it was about time for a newsletter. Since the end of the St. Patrick's Day tour in March, which was WONDERFUL, we have been very busy in the studio working on the new album. It's going very well, and we're super excited to share the new music with you -- but I lost track of time and haven't written a newsletter in over 3 months... oops! Sorry about that!
We recently started getting a bunch of emails and messages from you guys asking for an update on the new music (thank you all for the messages! Apologies for the radio silence, haha!) and I realized it has been far too long since the last update.
As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, we decided not to tour at all this summer in order to finish the album. It feels sort of weird not to be on the road during this season, but we've really enjoyed being able to take the time to make these new songs really special -- especially in these days of fast "content creation" it was really important to us to slow down and make something good, and that takes... lots and lots of time!
(It's pretty much the opposite of AI, haha!)
So here it is:
We're almost done... ish after a bit of a delay on songs 10 and 11, we have officially written the last song on the album (12) and are currently working on the arrangement together while recording all the instruments for the other two songs.
However, this doesn't mean the album is done yet -- we still have to record the last three songs, and since we're playing all the instruments, singing all the vocals and tracking all the parts ourselves, that will likely take several more weeks.
Then there's all the post-production stuff to do after that. This is the second 12-song album we've recorded in the last 3 years, so it has been a lot of work, but we've learned SO MUCH in the process.
So with all that in mind, here's the timeline we're looking at:
June - finish recording
July - mixing and post-production
August - mastering and replication
September - Japan Tour
October - NEW ALBUM RELEASE!
I know that seems like a long time from now, but we definitely plan to release some things ahead of time, so you will not have to wait all the way until October to hear anything. ;-)
We've also been testing this album for you, listening to it on many road trips through the mountains, dance-testing it, sing-along testing it, and we even managed to play at least seven of the new songs live before the end of our last tour! It was wonderful to hear the response to the new songs in person, and you all gave us the energy and excitement to push through to the end.
Something interesting on this album... for those who are interested in this sort of behind-the-scenes detail: the track order will actually be the same order in which we made up the songs. Usually we record songs and decide the track order later, moving songs around into a sort of flow, like the way a live set list is created. But for some reason this album made sense going chronologically from the first song we wrote (back in February, 2024) being first on the album to the last song (which we're working on now in June 2025) being the last one.
It's an emotional journey, this album. But it's somehow very light -- I can't describe it. You'll just have to listen to it, haha!
